WHY Our foundations matter
11 Acres isn’t a training facility, but training is central to our socialisation philosophy.
The freedom our dogs have off lead, exploring 11 acres of land, working calmly within a group, is built on simple foundations which we work on every single day.
There’s an old saying: “a well trained dog, is a happy dog” and we couldn’t agree more.

WHAT WE DO
Every day, we spend time reinforcing our foundations. Not through long, formal training sessions, but through consistent,
training moments within the day.
Working with dogs individually and within the group, we build:
- Recall (Come)
- Sit & Stay
- Wait (including doors & gates)
- Calm movement on a lead
These aren’t taught as tricks, but they’re built into how the dogs move, interact, and exist within the environment and become conditioned so all our dogs have a standard of behaviour which allows them to enjoy their days at 11 Acres.
Our foundations are taken from gundog training principles and include the use of a whistle for clear, consistent commands.
Why it works & Your role
The difference at 11 Acres is our environment. A calm, structured setting, with indoor space, all weather outdoor space as well as 11 acres of secure, private land, allows us to engage and fullfill each dog properly, not just manage them.
All our dogs understand what’s expected of them and that’s what allows them to have the level of freedom we offer.
This isn’t something that only happens here. The best results come when these foundations are carried over into everyday life.
At home, on walks, and in normal routines. That’s why we share what we do, so you can build the same behaviours with your dog outside of 11 Acres.

We’ve put together a PDF guide covering the foundations we use every day.
These are the same building blocks that allow our dogs to move freely and calmly within the group.
